At the TarraWarra Museum of Art, ‘The Industrial Design of Clement Meadmore: The Harris/Atkins Collection’, ‘SUPERsystems’ and ‘Systems and Structures’ will be open to the public from March 23 – July 14 2024.

Three new exhibitions will open this year at the TarraWarra Museum of Art that include new work from Melbourne-based artists Peter Atkins and Dana Harris titled ‘SUPERsystems’ as well as ‘The Industrial Design of Clement Meadmore: The Harris/Atkins Collection’, a collection spanning 25 years of Clement Meadmore’s work. ‘Systems and Structures’ will feature a curated selection of works by leading Australian artists chosen from the museum’s own collection. “These three new exhibitions provide an exciting opportunity to consider new and recent works by leading contemporary artists in conversation with painting, sculptures and designs by significant figures of Australian modernism,” says curator Anthony Fitzpatrick.

“These three new exhibitions provide an exciting opportunity to consider new and recent works by leading contemporary artists in conversation with painting, sculptures and designs by significant figures of Australian modernism,” says curator Anthony Fitzpatrick.

In ‘SUPERsystems’, Peter and Dana present new works in their first joint exhibition. Expressing a distinctive visual language and materiality, their works are closely aligned as both artists explore geometry, repetition and seriality. The second exhibition, ‘The Industrial Design of Clement Meadmore: The Harris/Atkins Collection’, features a wide range of Clement Meadmore’s individual pieces reaching as far back as the 1950s and early 1960s. In addition to the exhibition highlighting Clement’s distinct approach to industrial design and his ability to manipulate readily made materials, it also showcases a meticulous assembly of pieces from over the past 25 years. The comprehensive collection includes chairs, tables and lighting and is presented in its entirety for the first time.

For ‘Systems and Structures’, the museum draws upon its collection of abstract paintings and sculptures. The exhibition showcases Australian artists who have employed patterns, geometry, modules and repetition and will include works by Robert Hunter, Hilarie Mais, Rosalie Gascoigne, Howard Arkley, Mark Galea, Callum Morton, John Nixon and more.

In addition to the exhibitions, the 2024 TarraWarra Festival will be held May 4 – 5 with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra performing in the central gallery. An Afternoon with Peter Atkins and Dana Harris will be held on Sunday April 21 to prelude the exhibitions.
