Forward-thinking Design – Tim Webber X Audi
Underscoring its design credentials, luxury carmaker Audi enlisted New Zealand furniture designer Tim Webber to help showcase the arrival of the new fully electric Q4 e-tron SUV. Tim contributed his timeless design signature to an exclusive pop-up showroom space in Newmarket, Auckland.
Known for a timeless and holistic approach to design, Tim excels at creating a bespoke atmosphere where each element is considered, modern and refined. It is an ethos he believes has synergies with Audi’s own reputation for understated yet confident luxury design. “I think between myself and Audi, we’re both trying to create products that are not only beautiful but are something that becomes a part of your everyday life and also something that evokes a sense of emotion,” Tim says.
On this occasion, the designer orchestrated the visual experience of the showroom at The Car Store in Newmarket, Auckland, as a place that highlights innovation and sustainable design. By utilising warm tones of timber, brass and rust in the interior furnishings, the showroom formed a fitting backdrop to the fully electric Q4 e-tron SUV. As Audi’s smallest electric SUV, the diminutive stature and restrained sportiness of the Q4 e-tron belies its outsize technological innovation.
“Progress for me is always trying to push forward in every aspect of a design,” Tim confirms. “Whether it is the aesthetic, materials, sustainability, or the quality. We are always looking to the next step of improvement to be able to produce a better product for our customers.”
