The Enduring Beauty of Simplicity – VOLA Tapware
The belief that simple design is the most efficacious is the ethos behind VOLA’s range of tapware. From the brand’s initial designs to the present day, VOLA has continuously innovated to create tapware that is seamless, timeless and capable of effortlessly complementing a range of interior design styles.
Though consistently grounded in innovation and handmade processes, VOLA was not always known for simple design – in 1968, the very first VOLA mixer tap by Arne Jacobsen and VOLA owner Verner Overgaard was defined by intricacy and detail. While its impact would prove long-lasting, acting on the sudden shift in trends that made this style appear overwrought, VOLA began designing pieces that celebrated simplicity, craftsmanship and a purity of form. This has continued, along with a focus on handmade processes such as traditional techniques of hand-polishing in addition to modern machines.
Two iconic pieces reveal the simplicity, innovation and craftsmanship of VOLA’s designs – the KV1 one-handle kitchen mixer and FS1 freestanding bath mixer with hand shower, both available in 28 colours and finishes. Designed by Arne Jacobsen, the KVI expertly balances craft and technology. The piece encompasses simplicity in its subtle curves and precise junctions, allowing the mixer a tangible functionality and timeless sophistication.
Also defined by a minimalist and striking form, the FS1 offers a sculptural element to the bathroom. Its sleek and refined design brings a sense of serenity and elegance to any space, evoking relaxation and a spa-like feel. The elegance of the FS1 offers an adaptability – a seamless injection into any style of bathroom, whether it be midcentury or more contemporary.
Stemming from VOLA’s innovative mindset and straightforward approach to bathroom design, sustainability is also a key consideration of the brand’s design process.
Stemming from VOLA’s innovative mindset and straightforward approach to bathroom design, sustainability is also a key consideration of the brand’s design process. From the very beginning, VOLA has used only the purest stainless steel and lead-free brass. 100 per cent of the waste produced is recovered and recycled, and replacement parts are available for every product ever made, providing exceptional longevity and decreasing wastage. Water conservation is also a key consideration, including precision of controlled water flow and responsive control.
Known for its minimalism and pure design focus for over half a century, VOLA continues to craft beautiful, simple tapware that is both innovative and enduring.
