For Oliver MacLatchy, founder of Wood Melbourne, good design has always been derived from attention to detail. So, when the time came to upgrade the Wood Melbourne showroom, Oliver sought to create a space that would not only showcase products but simultaneously tell the Wood Melbourne story.

Wood Melbourne’s new West Brunswick showroom is a project six years in the making. A story that began in early 2014 from Oliver’s curious experiments with recycled timber has developed over time to include the development of bath spouts, tapware, basins, vanity units and, most recently, the unveiling of a new collection in 2019. Following the launch of Wood Melbourne’s latest collection, a true testament to Oliver’s love of refined design and natural materials, he was motivated to create a showroom that not only had the spatial capacity for an expanded product range but was also designed with finishes that would showcase the detailed materiality present in every Wood Melbourne product.

More than doubling in size from the previous showroom, Wood Melbourne’s new home is a space that does justice to the beauty of the products on display.

More than doubling in size from the previous showroom, Wood Melbourne’s new home is a space that does justice to the beauty of the products on display. With concrete, marble, brass and timber featuring heavily in the design, Oliver has created a showroom that makes selecting tapware and bathroom furniture a much more personal and enjoyable experience for clients. The increased size of the space has also allowed Oliver to display a range of Wood Melbourne’s vanity units, providing clients with a greater sense of the different styles on offer as well as the harmonious ensemble that is created when each product is combined. All styles and finishes are on display, along with Wood Melbourne’s range of accessories and a wall of taps that invites interaction with the tactile beauty of each piece.

Oliver has never lost sight of the small business values upon which Wood Melbourne was originally founded.

Despite the natural expansion that comes with new collection launches and brand growth, Oliver has never lost sight of the small business values upon which Wood Melbourne was originally founded. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the new West Brunswick showroom is located in Oliver’s very own backyard, encouraging clients to delve deeper into the background of the brand and the story behind every product.

Located at 146 Melville Rd West Brunswick, the Wood Melbourne showroom is open Monday to Saturday by appointment only.
