The Creator Series – Shaun Lockyer from Shaun Lockyer Architects
Shaun Lockyer of Shaun Lockyer Architects reflects on his business, past successes and plans for the future, speaking from his “home away from home” in Noosa. Shaun reveals the importance of having an effective online platform, in his case, Squarespace, to share information with the broader audience in a way that informs, inspires and attracts future clients.
Shaun Lockyer Architects is an architectural firm based in the modernist tradition where form follows function. This means its work is heavily inspired by the environment and being considerate of people and place so the projects they create have relevance and context. Shaun explains how his firm’s creative process is quite plural, “we are inspired by the work we see, the world around us and the people we do it with, and this has to be informed by a client who gives us the freedom and the brief to allow us to do something really special.”
Another element that aligns with Shaun Lockyer Architects’s marketing approach is the interactive nature Squarespace offers.
In line with this design philosophy, when creating a new website Shaun wanted a platform that could be many things at the same time – accessible, attractive, quick, functional and something the team could operate independently. “Squarespace could do all those things for us and has taken our business to another level,” notes Shaun.
Another element that aligns with Shaun Lockyer Architects’s marketing approach is the interactive nature Squarespace offers. “It’s important how the site links to social media platforms and how interactive it is,” reflects Shaun. He continues, “Our Squarespace site is our main way of sharing information to the market, which is the backbone of our marketing strategy and communicating who we are.”
Using Squarespace as a platform to share and inspire enables it to become an effective tool to procure more work.
Using Squarespace as a platform to share and inspire enables it to become an effective tool to procure more work. “It is wonderful to have a platform like Squarespace to easily reference past and present projects and remind ourselves what we are doing,” comments Shaun. “It is a thrill to share our work with others and help nurture relationships.”
In heightening awareness and informing clients, Squarespace ultimately helps Shaun Lockyer Architects achieve more of what they love doing – creating beautiful, bespoke architecture that will be nurtured and cared for generations to come.
