Embracing the bold application of its signature products, the Autex Acoustics Los Angeles showroom reimagines the modern workplace.

Set within The Artrium, an historic building in Downtown Los Angeles, the Autex showroom welcomes design firms in the area. “In recent years, the nature of work has changed,” says Phil Goodin, managing director of Autex Acoustics North America. “Collaboration has become more important and work environments must now focus on places where people can gather. Autex has always been a people business, so our showroom is open not only to those who are interested in discussing our products, but also to those looking to host events.” While the heritage exterior of The Artrium complements the company’s storied history, spanning almost 60 years, the renovated interior reflects its position at the forefront of innovation. Autex was the first company in its sector to become carbon-neutral and remains the only firm of its kind in North America to be carbon-neutral in both its products and operations. Its Los Angeles showroom displays the versatility of its range within this ethical framework.

Set within The Artrium, a historic building in Downtown Los Angeles, the Autex showroom welcomes the leading design firms in the area.

“Autex products are celebrated throughout the space,” says Villamin. “When visitors walk in, linear timber panels draw them from the hallway towards the open work areas. Here, Autex’s Horizon panels are layered across the ceiling in circles of varying sizes.” The adjacent conference room is defined by Frontier Talus, an acoustic baffle system characterised by its wave-like structure. Conversely, the smaller meeting room features custom graphic-printed panels where a bird of paradise motif references the brand’s Los Angeles roots. “With the colour palette, we have a lot of earthy tones – forest greens, warm browns – which pair well with the textural patterns,” says Villamin. Two living walls further connect the showroom to nature. In contrast to a typical workplace, the areas dedicated to seated activity are limited in favour of standing spaces which foster more dynamic and informal conversations. To the same end, a timber-clad bar is incorporated instead of a traditional kitchen island.

“We opened the showroom to give people an experience: of coming together, of enjoying a creative space and being able to appreciate our products within a completed project,” says Goodin. Serving as a vibrant community hub, the Autex Acoustics Los Angeles showroom champions the growing role of collaboration in guiding the design industry.
