Jamie Bush + Co’s latest collection of rugs, Field Studies, seamlessly combines tactile materials with earthy hues, celebrating the beauty of the natural world.

Jamie Bush + Co, led by architect and designer Jamie Bush, skilfully blurs the lines between architecture and interior design through its diverse offerings, including tiles, cabinetry and rugs. After practising exclusively as an architect, Bush founded the studio in 2002. Growing up in a creative family on Long Island, he developed a passion for design and a deep appreciation for the natural environment – making Jamie Bush + Co the culmination of these passions.

Field Studies is Bush’s second rug collaboration with Marc Phillips Decorative Rugs, following the success of his first rug collection, Topo. Crafted from a mix of cut and loop pile and dimensional carving, this collection reflects the beauty of “terraced mountain ranges and eroded shorelines”. Drawing inspiration from nature, the new rugs echo Bush’s paintings of abstract aerial views of eroded crop patterns, showcased in their irregular textures created from natural fibres like allo, silk, wool and hemp.

With subtle imperfections and a rugged quality, Field Studies captures the tones found in nature. Available in a variety of colours, including olive green, salmon and burnt red, as well as more neutral linseed tones, each rug features a layered composition of textures and hues, instantly injecting warmth into any space.

The collection was showcased at the Anderson House in Los Angeles, a home constructed from old-growth redwood that blends with the canyon backdrop. The location is fitting, embodying the same design principles and appreciation for nature that Jamie Bush + Co values. Inspired by natural world and grounded in Bush’s holistic design approach, Field Studies is both refined and raw – a seamless way to bring the essence of the natural environment into the home.
