As a warm and enduring family home, Brighton Residence is a timeless base for the fluctuations of family, which allows for the coming chapters. Studio Tate and Mirabuild combine to form a linear and discreet addition to the streetscape that makes its own statement with an overarching simplicity.

Presenting to the street as a grounded and solid coming-together of regular forms, the modern home is defined by a linear and crisply contained approach. Once inside, the various spaces are accessed by a central and generous spine corridor space that runs the length of the home, defining and directing movement as a result. Brighton Residence radiates outward from this central binding gesture, ensuring each of the associated zones remain connected yet have their own presence within the greater home. Designed by Studio Tate and built by Mirabuild, the team ensures the conceptual philosophies carry through into all aspects of the home.

Embedding the familiarities of home amongst the more modern elements sees a connection that extends both internally and out into the garden.

With both the owners familiar with the building process, and involved in development and styling respectively, they wanted to make sure the home was environmentally considered as well as aligning with their own aesthetic agenda. With an integrated 25,000 litre water tank and ample solar energy system supporting the daily functions of family life, a future focus was always at the forefront of each design decision. Ensuring the home would continue in relevance over time, a subtlety is woven into the exterior fabric of the form, with a textural finish encasing the linear formations adding a richness and depth to the otherwise flat surface face as it engages with light and shadows.

Although clearly structured from a contemporary and openly connected planning approach, the use of the central hallway references a more classical and traditional heritage home, bringing an element of nostalgia into the new. Embedding the familiarities of home amongst the more modern elements sees a connection that extends both internally and out into the garden. A careful layering in elements of warmth is achieved through bringing together texture and tone and actively engaging with natural light from all areas. As the spaces spread out over multiple levels, platforms shape the transitions where a combination of warm and cool finishes create a sense of balance throughout.

Through a steadied consistency and focussing on contrast in subtle ways, Brighton Residence takes occupancy across its site with a considered rigour. Studio Tate and Mirabuild ensure an openness that is felt across the levels and out into the landscape creates the ideal base for family life, allowing the owners to make it their own.
