Sculptural and bold, La Manufacture captures a timeless fusion of international sensibilities, where French je ne sais quoi blends effortlessly with Italian craftsmanship and technique. District has recently welcomed the Parisian brand, launching the latest alluring designs within an Australian setting.

Founded in 2020, La Manufacture presents a distinctive design identity without compromising on artistic expression and creativity. The brand consistently challenges what it means to create contemporary work that speaks to a timeless aesthetic, reinterpreting the classic, charming notions of French living. The team’s creative leaders include CEO Robert Acouri, and innovative collaborations harness the talents of the world’s leading designers – Patrick Norguet, Luca Nichetto and Sebastian Herkner among them.

Each piece produced by La Manufacture stands out as definitive European design, with every element considered and conveyed with purpose, form and character. The Calice armchair, designed by Patrick Norguet, is evocative of its namesake – the sacred cups that not only celebrated desire, but were momentous within the history of knighthood. Available in a selection of fabrics and leathers, the armchair is based upon the chalice’s simple curvature, commemorating the shape as it elegantly holds its structure.

The Soufflé mirror by Luca Nichetto is a vivid exploration of playful design, echoing the French translation of ‘blown’ by featuring an accentuated, puffy frame. Functional and daring, the balloon-like structure curves generously around the arched mirror and encompasses an internal wooden structure. The piece may be fixed to a wall or placed on the ground as desired. Similarly daring is Moro, created by German designer Sebastian Herkner. Named after the 67th Doge of Venice, the armchair speaks to a lavish, Italian palazzo interior and warmly envelopes its occupant to feel comforting yet luxurious.

Earlier this year, La Manufacture presented a curated selection of pieces at Casa Manzoni during Milan Design Week. The brand has previously held exhibitions at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli and the Teatro di San Carlo, often presenting iconic, contemporary design against historical settings and the exhibition at Casa Manzoni was no different. Sebastian Herkner presented three collections – the Moos sofa, Gem table and Breeze armchair – that embodied dynamic yet graceful design. Additionally, the brand also showcased products from nendo, Ana Moussinet, Neri&Hu, Front and Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.

As an authentic pursuit of elegant and sculptural pieces, La Manufacture consistently pushes the boundaries of modern, enduring design. Welcoming the brand into its fold, District continues to celebrate creative and innovative design, telling stories through form, philosophy and function.
