Actively engaging its Brisbane clientele, Great Dane opens a new showroom on Prospect Street in Fortitude Valley. The store marks the strengthening of customer relationships as Great Dane settles into the local context.

Established in 2002, Great Dane has been providing Australia with Scandinavian furniture and lighting for two decades. Customers seek out the company for its timeless designs underpinned by quality, service, craftsmanship and knowledge. In a Great Dane showroom, visitors can peruse diverse ranges of designer products often exclusive to the brand, experiencing the sense of authenticity and personal selection that has seen the company excel. For years, Great Dane customers situated in Brisbane have travelled to the southern capitals to partake in the unparalleled showroom experience. However, as the company celebrates 20 years in operation, a new store in Fortitude Valley allows residents of the city to enjoy Great Dane as part of their own retail scene.

In a Great Dane showroom, visitors can peruse diverse ranges of designer products often exclusive to the brand, experiencing the sense of authenticity and personal selection that has seen the company excel.

In store, customers can find designs from iconic names such as Hans Wegner, Nanna Ditzel and Verner Panton, sculptural works from Antrei Hartikainen and Carina Seth Andersson and pieces from new entrants into the industry. Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in the narrative of design, learning the intricate history of each work as well as the meticulous process that brought it to fruition. “The act of knowing where a piece is from and the belief it will stand the test of time, to be passed on to the next generation, has been a tradition in many Scandinavian homes,“ explains Anton Assaad, Director of Great Dane. “We believe it should be a tradition worldwide.”

“The showroom has been designed to feel like a home,” says Anton. “Customers become a part of it and are treated like family, crafting their own journey and learning about the makers who have selected the perfect Swedish leather or tree planks for their table”. Whilst the Sydney and Melbourne showrooms pulse with the atmosphere set by their moody colour palettes, the Brisbane iteration is carefully adjusted to reflect its location. Great Dane Brisbane captures a wide, open space with a light and airy character. Natural sunlight filters in through large windows and louvered skylights, whilst the redbrick façade interacts with the neighbouring architecture and stands as the loving restoration of its former self. The products on offer also promise to connect intimately to the quintessential Brisbane lifestyle.

“We searched Brisbane for many years for the right location but until now didn’t find the right space,” says Anton. “We are so excited to share our passion for Scandinavian design and our dedication to being great – not only in name but in execution – with Brisbane.”
