Responding perfectly to its sloping site, Mount Martha House is an artfully crafted contemporary family home. Glenvill Homes has designed a structure that takes full advantage of the outstanding vistas the Mornington Peninsula locale has to offer.
Sitting on what can only be described as an enviable vantage point, Mount Martha House emerges out of a collaborative design and brief process between the clients and Glenvill Homes, with the aim to capitalise on its prime location. A two-storey split level configuration featuring reverse living, the Mount Martha residence enjoys uninterrupted ocean views of Port Phillip Bay, available from the study, all living areas and four of the five bedrooms.
With the clients being drawn to the convenience of having the design and construction all under the one roof, Glenvill Homes ensured a seamless experience throughout the entire process. With a bespoke model that sees every element from brief to build customised to each client, the designer and construction synchronised across the duration of the project, sharing knowledge and ideas whilst collaborating from beginning to end.
The clients regularly met with the architect and project manager on site throughout the design and briefing phases, ensuring all ‘must-have’ design elements were included. Boasting a double-height entry courtyard into a generous multi-level foyer, the family home splits into respective levels and wings across the main living areas. Having older children, it was important to have separate living areas that could be adaptable to their respective visitors.

Responding to the clients’ desire for a connected outdoor living area, stacker sliding doors open out to an expansive alfresco area for seamless indoor-outdoor living and entertaining. A striking spiral outdoor staircase connects the upstairs and downstairs living areas and creates a unified outdoor entertainment space. Whilst allowing for practicality and weather resistance, this design also ensures the clients’ love for hosting was considered within the design.
Boasting over six decades of building experience, Glenvill Homes ensured a seamless building process. Often on site, the owners found the building experience an enjoyable venture and were left with a home that stands as anything but ordinary.
