Inspired by principles of flow and a connected seamlessness, Rose Park Residence is an exercise in subtlety and refined restraint. Williams Burton Leopardi combines a carefully considered approach, combining heritage and contemporary elements to conjure a home imbued in a deliberate calmness.

Set in the inner east of Adelaide, Rose Park Residence sits within the same-named established residential setting amongst similar era homes. Combining its otherwise disparate heritage and contemporary elements, a central courtyard acts as the binding agent, introducing light and a sense of the natural into an otherwise built environ. The overall cohesive approach stems from one steeped in subtleties and where a nuanced refinement to all comprising elements was key. Through a deliberate restraint, clean lines, select materiality and a collective embracing of the seamless transition all come together to propose a home of purpose. Williams Burton Leopardi combine their deep understanding of the heritage condition with classical references, to create a present and enduring home.

Built by Ikon Projects, with engineering by Gamma Consulting and joinery by Admore Dimensions, the dedicated team deliver on a collective concentration on craft and emphasised quality. Embracing its north facing living areas and creating a seamless connection between all of the zones connected to it required an intuitive approach to planning, one concentrated on encouraging a call to these gathering spaces.  As a meandering journey unfolds through the hometo reach this convening end point, a series of tactile engagement and touchpoints provide a relief from the distance travelled and create a distraction from the literal expanse of the home.

Sitting between the old and the new is the centralised courtyard, a destination in its own. Offering glimpses of the sky, dappled light through the foliage and moving reflections from the rippling pool water, this place of pause is also a place of contrasts. In solitude, it is a meditative and introspective space, and when in the company of others, it becomes a hard-walled and animated social space. It becomes the heart of the home, from which the past, present and future are connected and act as an extension of the interior spaces that they abut. The approach to materiality references both the traditional and the timeless, muted and neutral. Quality and long-living finishes are favoured over those of high trending popularity, and the result is one intended to elongate its relevance.

Playing with threshold and grounded on unified connections, Rose Park Residence creates a free flowing and effortless home. Williams Burton Leopardi respond to the preceding elements on site and propose newly appropriate insertions that respond beautifully to its context, and the result is a welcomed and calming respite.
