Transform WA’s Townshend residence harmoniously merges modern design with Perth natural landscape, creating a home that blurs the boundaries between indoor luxury and outdoor beauty.

Nestled in the serene landscape of Subiaco in Perth, Townshend emerges as a residence deeply connected to its natural surroundings. Built by Transform WA, this home exemplifies the architectural harmony achieved when modern design embraces the landscape. The design focuses on bringing the outside in, with expansive windows that frame the views of stunning Kings Park, creating an ever-present connection to the surrounding bushland. Cladding battens extend over the windows, subtly integrating the natural world into the interior. This philosophy continues throughout the home, where stacked brickwork creates feature walls that add texture and character, reinforcing the bond between architecture and environment.

“The thing we love most is executing a quality build using products that we love and brands that we can align with.”

A sophisticated blend of materials underscores the project’s commitment to quality and design. Central to this is the use of Dekton by Cosentino, an ultra-compact porcelain surface chosen for its versatility, durability and aesthetic appeal in both indoor and outdoor applications. Available in large format sizing and various thicknesses, Dekton transitions seamlessly from horizontal to vertical applications, a key factor in achieving a cohesive design vision. Transform WA’s Director, Carl Morrone, says, “The thing we love most is executing a quality build using products that we love and brands that we can align with.”

In the kitchen, Dekton Entzo adorns the island bench, distinguished by a brass inlay that serves as a focal point. Dekton Kelya provides contrast on the back benchtops and splashback, creating a striking visual balance. This 12-millimetre surface continues into the living area as a TV plinth and extends outdoors to the alfresco space, functioning as both benchtops and an outdoor table.

“Dekton is the perfect choice for outdoor applications as it is UV stable and will look just as beautiful over time as the first day you install it.”

On the upper levels, luxurious wet areas are enhanced with Dekton Entzo – in a thicker 20- millimetre form – on benchtops in the bathrooms and the master ensuite. It not only provides a robust surface for daily use but also ties back to the home’s overarching design language, ensuring that each space feels connected to the next.

Dekton’s benefits are particularly evident in this project. In the kitchen, its high heat tolerance allows hot pots to be placed directly on the surface without damage, while its non-porous nature resists scratching and staining. Additionally, Dekton’s UV stability ensures it retains its pristine appearance over time, making it ideal for outdoor use. “Dekton is the perfect choice for outdoor applications as it is UV stable and will look just as beautiful over time as the first day you install it,” says Jasmin Carr, Cosentino’s Perth designer sales manager.

The thoughtful integration of materials like Dekton contributes to a home that is visually stunning and built to last.
