Vola Advertorial 2

A pioneer of its time, the VOLA 111 mixer was designed by architect Arne Jacobsen and VOLA owner Verner Overgaard in 1968. The first of its type to conceal the mechanism internally, the series stands as the foundation of innovating spirit from which the brand currently firmly stands.

Imagined as a modular system before its time, the VOLA 111 mixer series captures the essence of VOLA’s brand, and the origin of its systems over 50 plus years. Founded on principles of craft, refinement, quality and sustainability, the passion for designing and making is felt through the entire process. Originally designed for the National Bank of Denmark in 1968, the VOLA 111 mixer was conceived by architect Arne Jacobsen and VOLA owner Verner Overgaard as a custom piece that concealed the mechanisms of the tapware. It was the beginning of what we have now – a suite a of interchangeable spouts and tapware that allow for endless customisation.

From the early inception of the VOLA 111 mixer and the many subsequent partnerships with leading designers and architects over the years, the legacy of celebrating craft and advancement continues.

Grounded in its Danish roots, the VOLA 111 mixer captures the spirit of VOLA’s seminal beginnings, where a combining love of craft, innovation and precision come together. As testament to the original design, and its vastly forward-thinking positioning at the time, the system was the first of its type to conceal all operational elements behind the wall, with the spout control and flow mechanism the only visible parts. From these early beginnings, the system has evolved into a vastly interchangeable modular system that is available in a multitude of finishes and combinations. The VOLA 111 series extends from the original mixer to bath spouts and shower heads, all designed within the same vein, with a timeless and enduring approach.

Taking inspiration from nature, the flow mechanism also nods to Danish values. With a love of spending time in the natural landscape, VOLA took the natural organic curve of water and its natural path and the Original was born. With minimal changes to the design over time, the Original is designed to last generations. The VOLA 111 mixer and resulting collections are minimal and considered and has been engineered for all offcut elements to be able to be recycled as an ingrained part of their process.
