DuoBuilt on Time – Jess Nardella of DuoBuilt
For over twenty years, Jess Nardella and his skilled team of craftspeople at DuoBuilt have specialised in high-end construction, delivering design-led, quality construction outcomes for the Melbourne market. With the construction industry now facing one of its most challenging periods in recent memory, Jess and his team call upon decades of experience, as well as an acute awareness of global architectural and building trends, to steer DuoBuilt into a new decade of excellence in commercial and residential builds.
“We take immense pride in our vast knowledge, experience and strong supplier networks to source the right materials and efficiently project manage each build from beginning to end,” says Jess. “DuoBuilt’s diversity of projects and versatility of skills have helped us to maintain a high standard of commercial and residential builds.” In the competitive Melbourne construction industry, it is the company’s focus on client satisfaction that has set them apart. From the very beginning, Jess learnt the value of forging and maintaining strong business relationships with clients and design industry professionals. “DuoBuilt is defined by an excellent team culture and our personal, client-focused communication and management style,” he explains. “Over the years, we have prioritised client satisfaction above all else, and this is something we remain committed to in the residential and commercial renovation spaces.”
“The ultimate goal for DuoBuilt is to combine high-end construction with premium design and good business through client satisfaction,” says Jess. “This year we are focused on broadening our scope of work, as we search for new opportunities in the commercial renovation space.” DuoBuilt’s focus of design-led, quality outcomes is reflected in the list of design studios DuoBuilt has collaborated with over the years, as the company has placed a high importance on architectural detail and beautiful design. DuoBuilt has recently worked with some of Australia’s most reputable architects and interior designers, including Travis Walton Architecture, Pandolfini Architects, Doherty Design Studio, Workroom, Hecker Guthrie, KENNON+ and Chris Connell Design. Within these collaborations, commercial construction has emerged as a strong focus for DuoBuilt, Jess explains. “We place a high importance on process and detailing to deliver the architect’s intended outcome on time and on budget in the highly pressurised environment that is the commercial building space,” he says.
“As a builder, I am under no illusions of the pressure I am under to deliver projects on time and on budget,” he expands. “Key to this is the creation of cohesion between everyone involved in the building process. This is where our team culture and strong supplier network really helps as we develop trust between builder, architect and client.” DuoBuilt’s multi-disciplinary team has worked hard to forge and maintain collaborative relationships with Australian architects and interior designers, in the process establishing a strong reputation for design-led, high-end construction across a diverse range of commercial and residential projects.
With a diversity of the projects in DuoBuilt’s portfolio, from residential renovations to commercial base builds and hospitality fit outs, the company has been accumulating a particularly impressive array of commercial projects. The highly regarded Bar Carolina, a modern Italian restaurant in the Melbourne suburb of South Yarra, was the result of a close collaboration with Chris Connell Design. DuoBuilt has also worked closely with Melbourne-based creative agency Projects of Imagination on the Gilson Bar, Builders Arms Hotel and Hagens Organic Butcher. “We do a varied range of projects and adopt the different design aesthetics that come with working with some of Australia’s best architects and interior designers,” explains Jess. “We are always open to new opportunities and this versatility is supported largely by a multi-disciplinary office with the knowledge developed by over twenty years in the building game.”
So, as the construction industry enters one of its most challenging periods to date, what does 2020 hold for Jess and his team at DuoBuilt? “Despite being a family man these days, with another child on the way, I remain as driven and committed to construction excellence as the day I first started DuoBuilt,” he reflects. “As a company, we remain committed to continually improving, and the most effective way to do this is by taking on a varied range of challenging projects and establishing further collaborations with design practices.” With work currently in progress with Pure Interiors, Travis Walton Architects, Pandolfini Architects, Doherty Design Studio and developers BPM, there is no denying that DuoBuilt is set on the right trajectory to go to another level in 2020. With an established business, an impressive portfolio of work and a strong multi-disciplinary team, DuoBuilt will continue to carve out a significant place in Melbourne’s construction community.
