What advice would you give to young people looking to buy?
Focus on building your deposit first. Skip the luxury cars and watches, cut back on eating out every day and prioritise saving. Once you’ve secured a mortgage, work on finding a balance between enjoying life and managing your financial commitments.
What’s your number one tip for someone selling their property?
Use us – don’t bite the hand or the people who are going to best assist you to get the best possible price. Work with the right team, and trust your agent and advisors as they’re there to help you achieve the best outcome. Don’t cut corners on presentation either: investing in how your property looks can make a huge difference to the outcome.
What is the favourite property you’ve sold and why?
A favourite was a two-bedroom apartment I sold many years ago at 315 Bondi Road, Bondi. It wasn’t about the luxury finishes or stunning views, but the personal connection with the vendor. Her reaction when the property sold was unforgettable: she was so emotional and grateful that she cried at the auction. That relationship has stayed with me, making it one of my favourite families to represent and a constant reminder that in real estate, it’s all about relationships.
What do you think buyers are looking for in new apartment developments?
Buyers want the holy trinity: a convenient location, lots of natural light and outdoor space that actually makes you want to relax, entertain and enjoy life.
What Sydney suburbs do you think will experience the biggest growth over the next 12 months?
I still proclaim the beachside suburbs will continue to outperform many inner-city areas, driven by lifestyle. At the same time, Sydney is becoming a city of micro-cultures, so areas with major infrastructure – particularly schools, hospitals and hospitality hubs – are set to see strong growth over the next 12 months.
