About Nic Goodman

What advice would you give to young people looking to buy?
Buy into the best location you can afford and think long term. Your first home may not be your forever home, but it should give you options. Don’t be concerned about the aesthetics, do be concerned about the structure.

What’s your number-one tip for someone selling their property?
Presentation and positioning are everything. Invest the time before launch to understand who the likely buyer is, then present the property in a way that speaks directly to that audience. The right preparation can change both perception and price.

Do you think luxury features are important to include in homes and new builds?
Absolutely. But luxury should feel considered rather than excessive. Buyers respond to quality materials, natural light, proportion, privacy, storage and a strong connection to the outdoors. These residences should be effortless to live in.

What is the favourite property you’ve sold and why?
It is hard to choose a favourite because the most rewarding sales are rarely just about the property. They are about the people, the trust built and the privilege of guiding clients through significant life moments.

What do you think buyers are looking for in new properties?
They’re looking for quality construction, energy efficiency, flexible living spaces, privacy, strong indoor-outdoor flow and design that will age well.

What suburbs do you think will experience the biggest growth over the next 12 months?
Havelock North and premium lifestyle pockets on the outskirts, along with coastal areas such as Te Awanga, Haumoana and Westshore. Buyers are increasingly drawn to space, lifestyle and a strong sense of community.
