What advice would you give to young people looking to buy?
It really depends on whether you’re buying your first home to live in and enjoy or taking your first step onto the investment ladder. Those two goals can look very different, so it’s important to separate them early on. Once you’re clear on what you’re trying to achieve, it becomes much easier to make decisions that suit your needs, budget and long-term plans.
What’s your number-one tip for someone selling their property?
Get your property ready – presentation matters, small fixes help and styling goes a long way. Be realistic about price and choose an agent you trust and connect with; an agent that either knows the local market really well or is super passionate about your property and helping buyers. When preparation, good marketing and a strong agent-client relationship come together, it makes a huge difference in getting the best result.
What is the favourite property you’ve sold and why?
I’ve sold so many amazing properties, and a few really stand out. There’s one with a beautiful story, but out of respect for my clients I like to keep it private. For me, the most rewarding part is helping people achieve their goals and seeing the joy a home brings.
What do you think buyers are looking for in new properties?
Buyers today are looking for homes that feel comfortable, functional and easy to live in. Natural light, good layout and quality finishes remain important, along with flexible spaces that suit modern lifestyles, from working from home to entertaining. Also, homes that will work over the next years and can stand the test of time. Location and lifestyle are still key drivers, particularly on the Northern Beaches, where it’s all about lifestyle. However, proximity to the beach, schools, village and transport is highly valued. Presentation also matters; buyers want to walk in and immediately see themselves living there. It has to feel like a home.
What suburbs do you think will experience the biggest growth over the next 12 months?
I think we’ll continue to see solid growth in well-located Northern Beaches suburbs where demand is strong and supply is limited. Areas like Freshwater and Narrabeen remain popular for their lifestyle and location appeal, while Avalon, Bilgola and Newport continue to perform well due to their tightly held nature and strong buyer demand. Suburbs such as Mona Vale, Brookvale and Manly Vale are also showing good momentum due to zoning changes and improved amenities and transport.
